Hi, guys. My name is xxxx. I am originally
from China and I have come for my studies. I am looking forward to making the
most out of my time while in this course. Just going through the introductory
lecture has given me so much insight into what more awaits us in this course. I
was particularly attracted to the sections on globalization and religion. I
have always had notions of what the concept entails. It is my hope that the
course will allow me to have even a better understanding of globalization in
addition to some other important concepts.
Being a Chinese means that I come from a
place with a very rich cultural heritage going back into thousands of years. It
was in China where the art of writing was invented by Fu Hsi. The Yellow
Emperor is also credited for making important contributions in ideas of
government and Taoism. Shen Nung was also another Chinese cultural hero who
invented farming and commerce. China is also known to be a place where some of
the philosophical traditions developed. Such traditions include Confucianism
which is attributed to Confucius (K’ung Fu-tzu). He propagated the idea that
public order come from good behavior. Some of the dynasties that ruled China in
the past also managed to come up with important architectural works that
remains even today. An example of those architectural masterpieces is the Great
Wall of China. Its construction began during the Chi’n Dynasty (221-206 B.C.E).
Lastly, my main objectives for pursuing this
program are to prepare me for a career in the modern interconnected world. I would be happy to pursue this course to a
higher level but will still use whatever the knowledge from the course in the
event that things happen the other way round.
